Kanu was at West Ham‘s academy last season and netted twice in 17 appearances.
The forward, who can also play in midfield, is the latest youngster to join Nicky Butt’s youth set up at Old Trafford.
The former Red Devils midfielder has poached coach Kieran McKenna from Tottenham to boss the U18s.
New signings Tatith Chong and Joshua Bohui have also arrived at the academy this summer.

The hope is that more players can break through United’s youth set up and into the first team.
Marcus Rashford, 18, made the leap last term under Louis van Gaal and has shone in the senior team.
The striker scored eight goals in 18 games last time out and has already contributed to Jose Mourinho‘s tenure with the winner away to Hull.
