Manchester United and Liverpool dealt blow as transfer target Ruben Neves commits future to promoted Wolves

WOLVES have received a huge boost after Ruben Neves pledged his future to the Premier League new boys.

The Portuguese midfielder, 21, has produced a series of stunning displays for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side throughout their Championship-winning campaign.

That form caught the eye of clubs from around Europe and England, with Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho and Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp both believed to be plotting a summer swoop.

But the former Porto man, who has scored six goals this season, vowed to continue at Molineux for at least another season during the club’s promotion parade through the town today.

Neves told Sky Sports: “I came here to help the club and the club has helped me as well.

“I think we achieved all our goals, as an individual and as a team.

“It is normal as big clubs see our work, not just me but all the boys, but I am really happy here.

“I want to stay here and I want to enjoy the Premier League with this fantastic club.”

Wolves raised eyebrows last year when they signed the star for £15.8million.

But he has lived up to the high expectations placed upon him by becoming the key creative force in their romp to the title.

However, he and his team-mates did fail to crack the 100-point barrier at the last hurdle.

The champions were thrashed 3-0 at already-relegated Sunderland in their final game yesterday.

That result did little to dampen the party mood this afternoon.

Santo’s squad, staff and club officials joined the boss on an open-top bus in front of around 30,000 of their supporters to celebrate their return to the top-flight.
