City said ‘no’ to Sterling, 22, moving to the Emirates in a swap deal with Alexis Sanchez.

There were reports last week that Arsene Wenger might test the water again in January.

And if not in the winter, then next summer.

But after the former Liverpool man’s two goals against Crystal Palace on Saturday, Pep said his stance would not change.

The City boss said: “Raz is staying here.

The club trust him and that is why we have invested a lot of money in him.

“If players want to leave they are going to leave, but he wants to stay.

“Players who want to leave have to ask the chairman – but there is no chance of that, he is going nowhere.”

Sterling has been in fine form for the Citizens this campaign.

He has scored five goals in his five Premier League matches for Guardiola’s free-scoring side.
