And, according to the Daily Star, he will offer Sterling a new deal in order to assure him of his importance at the Etihad.

Sterling has nearly three years left on his £200,000-a-week City contract.

The club were reportedly quick to make it clear to the former Liverpool star that Arsenal made a summer approach for him – and they did NOT offer him out.

Alexis Sanchez remains a City target though Guardiola knows he now faces competition from Manchester United for the wantaway Gunners ace, whose deal expires in the summer.

Sterling has scored five Premier League goals in five appearances this term, including a double in City’s 5-0 rout over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

And Guardiola has no plans to see one of his star performers quit the club.
