Manchester City goalkeeper Claudio Bravo ruled out injured for the remainder of the season with calf problem

MANCHESTER CITY goalkeeper Claudio Bravo has reportedly seen his season cut short by the injury sustained during Thursday night’s derby against Manchester United.

Goal claims the Chilean suffered a one centimetre tear in his left calf after landing awkwardly while catching a ball.

Tests on Friday confirmed the problem and Bravo will now be sidelined for at least three weeks, effectively ending his maiden Premier League campaign.

The 34-year-old has been far from convincing after swapping Barcelona for Man City last summer.

Bravo has made a number of high-profile errors between the sticks and eventually lost his place in the team to back-up goalie Willy Caballero.

But after regaining Pep Guardiola’s trust, Bravo will now be forced to watch the remainder of the season from the stands.

Whether he has a long-term future at the Etihad remains to be seen, even though Joe Hart will be sold this summer.

City have been linked with a number of up-and-coming keepers, most notably Benfica’s Ederson.

And it’s unlikely Bravo would be fine with playing No.2 after leaving Barcelona for the very same reason.
