City plan to discuss the post-match invasion with Wigan over the next few days.

Sources insist they want answers as to how their players can be put at risk by so many being able to get onto the pitch.

Pep Guardiola insisted he had not seen the Aguero incident, claiming merely: “I was in the locker room, I didn’t see it.”

Wigan chief Paul Cook was also keen to play it down, adding: “I haven’t seen these incidents so rather wouldn’t comment.

“But the conversation about the game shouldn’t be about that – it’s a great night for Wigan Athletic.”

Yet Wigan chairman David Sharpe admitted it had taken something of the gloss off the League One side’s incredible night.
