Manchester City 3 Newcastle 1: Sergio Aguero scores a hat-trick to maintain 12-point lead and bag his 22nd goal of the season

SERGIO AGUERO bagged a hat-trick as Manchester City brushed Newcastle aside to maintain a 12-point lead at the top.

Coming off the back of their first defeat of the season, the Premier League leaders were in cruise control after Aguero opened the scoring with his head on 34 minutes.

The Argentine then doubled their advantage from the spot after Raheem Sterling was bundled down in the box.

But the hosts switched off moments later and Murphy, a £12million signing from Norwich, produced a glorious finish out of nothing to stage a late comeback.

That was foiled when City’s all-time leading scorer bagged his third and 22nd goal of the season in all competitions.
