Liverpool transfer news: Reds target Geoffrey Kondogbia tells Inter Milan he wants to leave

LIVERPOOL target Geoffrey Kondogbia has asked to leave Inter Milan.

Gazzetta dello Sport reports the French midfielder, 24, wants to move for more regular first-team football ahead of next year’s World Cup.

Kondogbia – who made headlines for his stunning own goal against Chelsea in pre-season – has failed to nail down a starting place at the San Siro.

He joined Inter from Monaco in 2015 for £25million.

There is extra midfield competition at the Nerazzurri following the signings of Matias Vecino and Borja Valero from Fiorentina this summer.

Kondogbia’s exit plea could put Liverpool and Tottenham on red alert, with both clubs linked with moves in the past.

The report claims Premier League sides will show the most interest in the player.

Liverpool, meanwhile, face the prospect of losing star man Philippe Coutinho to Barcelona.

Jurgen Klopp is adamant the Brazil playmaker, 25, is NOT for sale – but is making contingency plans just in case.

West Ham ace Manuel Lanzini, 24, is an option to replace Coutinho should he join Barca this summer.
