Liverpool to fight Barcelona for Lyon cub Houssem Aouar after missing out on him before he turned pro

LIVERPOOL are ready to fight Barcelona for Lyon whizkid Houssem Aouar, according to reports.

The French midfielder, 19, has starred in Ligue 1 season after breaking into the first team.

And Goal claims the Reds could launch a second bid after failing to lure Aouar to England before he signed a professional deal.

Lyon’s homegrown academy graduates – including Alexandre Lacazette and Nabil Fekir – are notoriously loyal to their club.

And Aouar – who still lives at home – is no different, explaining: “I still live with my mum.

“She’s done everything for me and I feel great at her place. She brings me equilibrium.

“Playing in big matches and having cameras trained on me, afterwards to go back to her place, it allows me to keep my feet on the ground – that’s important.

“I give a lot of importance to my family and the city of Lyon, and I’m happy I decided to stay.”

Liverpool’s last scrap with Barca saw Philippe Coutinho eventually leave Anfield after months of negotiations.

But armed with the £145million fee, Jurgen Klopp has been busy assembling his dream squad.

Virgil van Dijk arrived in January and Naby Keita will join the Reds in the summer.
