Liverpool now hope the France defender, on loan at Crystal Palace, will see them hit the jackpot.

The 27-year-old’s superb displays for the Eagles mean his parent club are confident they can recoup MORE than the £18million he cost them from Paris Saint-Germain.

Sakho is surplus to requirements at Anfield after a series of off-field issues but has a contract until 2020.
He was also sent home from the pre-season tour of America, after arriving late for the flight and a team meeting.
The defender also missed a recovery session and interrupted boss Jurgen Klopp during an interview on a team visit to Alcatraz.
Palace are paying a £2million loan fee but crucially have no option or commitment to buy.
And after an upturn in form over recent weeks, combined with interest from Serie A and the Saints, Liverpool believe they can still get a bumper fee for the defender.

Reds boss Jurgen Klopp was unhappy with the defender for a number of reasonsGetty Images
He got a 30-day ban for testing positive for a prohibited fat-burner following a Europa League clash with Manchester United.
And although Uefa failed to impose a further suspension when Sakho‘s defence team queried if it should have been on the prohibited list, Liverpool were unhappy he took it without the consent of their medics.
