And they will be able to relax and unwind in a little bit of luxury ahead of the big game.

The Reds have based themselves at The Lowry hotel, the usual team base of fierce rivals Man United.

Joining them at the hotel this afternoon was a security team and bomb sniffer dogs – showing that security will not be compromised.

There is likely to be a heavy police presence before, during and after the game in Manchester and the surrounding areas following the disturbances that dominated the first leg.

The Man City team bus was attacked by bottle, smoke bombs and other missiles by Liverpool fans as it made its way to Anfield last week.

Uefa has already opened a case against Liverpool over the disturbances before kick-off as well as incident that took place inside the stadium.

And keen eyes are likely to be directed at the Etihad tonight, with security already proving to be problematic.

SunSport reported earlier this morning how Liverpool have seen their request to have police stationed on bridges en route to the stadium rejected.

Reds chiefs are fearful of potential revenge attacks after some of the Kop faithful attacked City’s bus on the way to Anfield six days ago.
