LIONEL MESSI’S grandfather sadly passed away on Wednesday, reports in Argentina have now confirmed.
Antonio Cuccittini, who was the Barcelona superstar’s mother’s father, was 89 and in his hometown of Rosario.
His partner Celia, who died in 1998, is the grandmother Messi dedicated all of his goals to by pointing to the sky.
Telam report Cuccittini suffered a breakdown in his home and, when an ambulance arrived, he was diagnosed with a loss of consciousness and respiratory failure.
Both of his grandparents were a very important part of the five-time Ballon d’Or-winner’s growing up.
Cuccittini was known in Argentina for criticising his grandson’s performances for the national team.
