Above the late lad’s black and white picture was the message: “Rest in peace Frankie.”

A minute’s applause was also held for the youngster ahead of the Checkatrade trophy semi-final clash against Chelsea Under-21s at Sincil Bank.

Biggs suffered bone cancer and, according to his JustGiving page, was to undergo surgery to have two bionic knees.

He was told by doctors he had ligament damage but it was not until he was taken for an X-ray that doctors discovered he had a tumour which had spread to both knees.

The little fighter was nicknamed Frank the Tank for his amazing courage in the face of such overwhelming adversity.

Lincoln’s official Twitter account tweeted before the game: “There will be a minute applause ahead of tonight’s @CheckatradeTrpy semi-final with @ChelseaFC U21s.

“Our thoughts are with Ollie Palmer and his family at this very difficult time.”

Palmer spoke of not being able to see Biggs as much as he wanted ahead of kick-off and was on the bench for kick-off.
