Lewis Hamilton reveals his first-ever car… and how he loved racing around in his MINI
LEWIS HAMILTON may be one of the fastest men on the planet in his thunderous Formula One car – but he was just as happy driving a MINI in his younger days.
The Brit racing star has crossed the finish line more times than anyone else apart from the legendary Michael Schumacher.
Lewis Hamilton raised eyebrows as he revealed his first-ever car was a MINIEPA
However, Hamilton has revealed that he never always had such a need for speed.
Before making his mark in F1, the Mercedes man was behind the wheel of a much more conventional machine.
When quizzed on his first-ever car, he told CCN: “It was a Mini – actually my mum’s was the first I drove, and then I got one.
“It was second-hand but it was really in great condition.”

Despite his Mini not able to match the speeds he reaches now, that did not make it any less fun driving it around.
After buying it, with help from his father Anthony, he said it was “just the greatest thing,” and highlighted the “freedom to go around and do things” in his car.
Although, it appears that he never always kept within the laws of the highway code.

He added: “You know, I thought I knew everything and it doesn’t matter how good you are as a driver — you don’t.
“It was a big wake-up call getting a car and getting that big responsibility; it’s not only you now, it’s all the people you’re driving past.”
Hamilton will be behind the wheel this weekend as he takes to the grid in Bahrain for the third grand prix of the season.
