LEICESTER CITY’s misfit midfielder Nampalys Mendy is set to snub his old boss Claudio Ranieri and Nantes – after setting his heart on a move to Bordeaux.
Ranieri spent £13million to sign Mendy from Nice last summer but an ankle injury suffered on his Premier League debut against Arsenal kept the 25-year-old side-lined until December and required two operations.

Now after making just four Premier appearances for the Foxes, Mendy’s Leicester career looks over as he admits he is ‘obsessed,’ with joining Bordeaux.

Despite having three years left on his Leicester contract, Mendy told French newspaper L’Equipe he had no desire to join Ranieri at Nantes.
“I heard about the interest from Nantes but neither me nor my agent were contacted,” he said.
“Since my adviser talked to me about the possibility of joining Bordeaux, I’m fixing on it. If I come back to France it will be in Bordeaux, nowhere else.

“I lost a year in England because of a failed ankle surgery, which unfortunately needed a second surgery in March.
“Even though I’m not 100% yet, now I have the hope of joining Bordeaux fairly quickly, it’s become an obsession.”

Mendy is due back to start pre-season training with new Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare next week.
However the midfielder is desperate to return to France to rekindle his flagging chances of breaking into France’s world cup squad.
