KYLE EDMUND backed up his defeat of Novak Djokovic with another brilliant performance at the Madrid Open.
Edmund crushed world No 10 David Goffin 6-3 6-3 in 72 minutes to move into the quarter finals of the big clay tournament in Spain.

Goffin sprayed an uncharacteristic number of errors around the court, but the British No 1 put the Belgian under relentless pressure with his serve and big forehand.
Edmund, as he had against Djokovic, raced out of the blocks to claim the first set.
The Brit was dominant on serve, not giving the Belgian a single break point, and punished his opponent’s second serve on the way to breaking him twice.
Goffin put down the pedal at the start of the second set but Edmund saved two break points in the opening game.
And it was the world No 10 who faltered in the sixth game, dropping serve from 30/0 up to give Edmund sight of the finish line.

Goffin saved a match point and Edmund double-faulted on his second. But he made no mistake on his third and sealed revenge for his defeat in the opening rubber of the 2015 Davis Cup Final.
Edmund, who is now certain to rise into the world’s top 20 for the first time, will play the winner of the all-Canadian clash between Denis Shapovalov or Milos Raonic in the last eight.
