The Englishman steered the club to safety through the play-offs last term.

He was then allowed to overhaul the squad and added 11 new players as part of the revamp.

They have won two of their first three games in the BetFred Cup.

But their performances have been patchy so far — and it’s thought that has left Clark, 43, to question his position.

Killie had to come from 2-0 down to beat League Two Berwick on Tuesday.

Afterwards Clark let rip at his players for what he called a “below-par” performance.

The squad were given two days off – time which Clark has given himself to come to a decision on what he does next.

Kilmarnock face Albion Rovers in their final Group H clash tomorrow. They currently sit second behind Morton, who they crashed to last weekend.

Clark and the squad are due to return to training today, but questions over his future will be answered before then at their weekly press conference.

It would come as a huge shock if he was to leave now after being backed to bring in a whole team of new faces this summer.

All 11 signings came from clubs down south and some have already said they joined because of his track record working with young players.
