The Ghana international joined the club last summer and was just three months into a fresh three-year deal.

Boateng has reportedly turned down a pay rise when he signed the contract.

A club statement said: “Boateng will continue his sporting career at a destination that allows him to be close to his family.”

There is a press conference later today in which both Boateng and club officials are expected to explain the decision further.

It appears an amicable parting of ways, with the Las Palmas thanking Boateng for his professionalism during his stint.

Boateng, 30, married his model girlfriend Melissa Satta in her native Italy last summer.

Italian tenor Andrea Bocceli also performed at the lavish ceremony in Sardinia.

The couple also have a young son, Maddox, and it appears that Boateng has quit Las Palmas to be closer his wife and son.

German-born Boateng – whose brother is Germany international Jerome – came through the ranks at Hertha Berlin before moving to Spurs in 2009.

Following a loan stint at Dortmund, he spent a season with Portsmouth before heading to AC Milan.

He had two spells with the Rossoneri, either side of two seasons at Schalke, before making the move to Las Palmas.

The former party animal has opened up in the past over his struggles to control his wild antics, but has since settled down.
