But Anfield boss Klopp thinks keeping the 27-year-old is a no-brainer, according to the Mirror.
Sturridge‘s career has often stuttered since his sensational pairing with Luis Suarez when Liverpool finished runners-up in 2013-14.
And Klopp was reportedly frustrated with Sturridge’s erratic fortunes last term, despite describing the former Chelsea and Manchester City frontman as an “unbelievable” talent.
But Klopp also knows the demands of a Champions League season will mean having experienced options like Sturridge are all but essential.
Sturridge himself is hoping a full pre-season of training can transform his fortunes,
He faces a struggle, though, as Sadio Mane will be back to compete with new £39million winger Mohamed Salah for a place in an interchanging Liverpool attack.
The Reds finished fourth last term, bagging 78 goals in their 38 Prem games.
