Jurgen Klopp happy to stay at Liverpool for the rest of his career… and expects to retire from football when he is 60

JURGEN KLOPP insists he would be happy to stay at Liverpool for the rest of his career – but plans to quit football by the age of 60.

The ex-Borussia Dortmund manager, 49, will not rule out returning to manage in Germany.

But Klopp told his home country’s RedaktionsNetwerk: “If at the end of my career I only got to coach Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool, then it will certainly have been three fantastic clubs.

“It’s very, very unlikely that I will still be sitting on the bench when I am 60.

“I certainly will (return to Germany) to live but I don’t know if I will be back there as a coach yet. The day will come when I say, ‘thanks, it was a pleasure’.”

Klopp celebrates a year in charge at Anfield next week and dreams of building a dynasty to rival the job Alex Ferguson did at fierce rivals Manchester United.

Last weekend’s 5-1 victory over Hull gave Klopp‘s men 14 goals from their past four Premier League games ahead of this Saturday’s trip to Swansea.

And Klopp believes the Reds are finally clicking the way he planned – persuading even ex-United legend Paul Scholes to reluctantly tip Liverpool for a sustained title challenge this season.
