JUAN MATA was lucky not to have been a straight red card after his horror tackle on Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy.
The Manchester United playmaker lunged in with studs up, catching the Foxes star high up the ankle.
United led 2-0 at the end of the first half at the King Power Stadium, but one of the major talking points was Mata's foul.
He was only brandished a yellow card when the challenge would have easily seen red on another occasion.
The former Chelsea man isn't known for having a nasty streak in him, but the tackle certainly left its mark on the England international who felt the full force.
To make matters worse for Leicester, Mata scored early on in the second half with a cool finish into the bottom left hand corner.
