Jose Mourinho takes relaxing stroll with Manchester United assistant and posts tribute to wife on her birthday

JOSE MOURINHO has shown his softer side by posting a romantic birthday message to his wife on Instagram.

The Manchester United manager, known for his ruthless pursuit of success, shared a photo of Matilde Faria with the simple words “happy birthday”.

The fact Mourinho was seen shopping in Manchester with his assistant coach Ricardo Formosinho on Monday – Faria’s birthday – suggests they were apart.

Faria still lives in London with their two children despite her husband’s move to Manchester to take over United last year.

And after enjoying a stroll around Manchester with Formosinho, which included a visit to Tesco, he took to Instagram.

He even showed a bit of social media nous by including emojis of a birthday cake and love-heart in his message to his wife.

Incredibly, Mourinho and Formosinho drew little public attention as they walked about the city centre on Monday afternoon.

The United squad had the day off after their highly impressive season-opening 4-0 win over West Ham on Sunday.
