JOSE MOURINHO claims he makes terrible decisions as a manager – because he always takes over clubs in big trouble.
Mourinho has been ranked as one of the best bosses in world football having won trophies wherever he has been.

But the Manchester United manager admits he has sometimes made it hard for himself by going into clubs who have been under-performing.

Speaking to Portuguese newspaper Expresso, Mourinho said: “I am terrible at picking teams.
“I always choose teams, as they say in England, in big trouble.
“Inter was in big trouble, Real Madrid was in big trouble, Manchester United in big trouble – that is always in big trouble.”

Mourinho made a huge impact in his time as Inter boss, leading the Serie A club to the Champions League before quitting to take charge of Real.
He led Madrid to the Spanish title but failed to conquer Europe with the club amid suggestions of in-fighting between manager and senior players.

And his first season at Old Trafford was not without its problems, even though he eventually led the club to two trophies.
He inherited a squad that had dropped well off the pace in the race to win the Premier League, and floundering in confidence after the Louis van Gaal era.

Despite winning the EFL Cup and Europa League, the fact United could only finish sixth in the league showed how much work is still to be done.
Mourinho is back in Portugal attempting to take a complete break from football, telling executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward it is now up to him to get the transfer business done.

Woodward has been quick to act this summer, with United yesterday announcing they had agreed a deal with Benfica to sign Victor Lindelof for £35million.
That is unlikely to be the last transfer United get done in the next fortnight, with the club also on the verge of reaching agreement with Real Madrid over striker Alvaro Morata.

United are ready to pay £64m to Real for Morata, and the player could even fly to Manchester this week to finalise his move.
And the club are also closing in on a deal with Torino for Andrea Belotti, who could cost up to £70m, as they prioritise signing two strikers this summer.
