Jose Mourinho refuses to speak to the media as the Manchester United boss reacts furiously during and after the 0-0 home draw with Burnley

Jose Mourinho snubbed the media tonight to cap his controversial day.

The Manchester United boss was sent to the stands in the 0-0 home draw with Burnley for arguing with referee Mark Clattenburg over his refusal to give Matteo Darmian a penalty.

Mourinho‘s temper must have worsened in the second half when United midfielder Ander Herrera saw red for his second yellow card.

And afterwards Mourinho sent his assistant manager Rui Faria to face journalists.

Portuguese Faria said of his fellow countryman’s clash with Clattenburg: “I don’t know what happened,

“It is not important what Jose said. What is important is what the referee writes in his report.

“I think the referee did fantastic work. I won’t say more than this.”

Faria added: "The people in the stadium could feel that the players gave everything.

"We fought until the last second. We have to keep working and things will happen.

"Sometimes you create only a few chances and score them all, others you create lots and don't score any. This is football."
