Jose Mourinho: Manchester United manager bemoans “lucky” Feyenoord and offside goal after 1-0 defeat

JOSE MOURINHO bemoaned a “lucky” Feyenoord side and the offside goal that saw them lose 1-0 in a woefully lacklustre performance.

The Special One’s side looked lacklustre throughout and after were punished after 79 minutes after Tonny Vilhena fired home from the edge of the area.

Mourinho was annoyed with the refereeing as winger Nicolai Jørgensen, who provided the cross to Vilhena, was clearly offside.

The Portuguese said after the game: “Of course I am unhappy, the second half we will always in control.

“We were trying to win. It was in that moment when we lost the game, we were unlucky as he was clearly offside.

“The second half was better than the first. The first half was just 45 minutes when we were in control but not really pushing.

“In the second half we brought a different intensity. They defended everything and had a great crowd and a great spirit.

“We know we are the team everyone wants to play against. They had the luck to score a goal.

“I don’t want to go in that direction, I don’t want to personalise. Some of the players were playing their first minutes of the season, some were better than others but I cannot judge them on one game.

“It’s obvious we will have Valencia and Shaw back to play and fresh. We go back to a normal team after so many changes.”
