Caboche’s filly She’s Reneldasgirl was then taken away to calm down in Port Lincoln, Australia.
But its frustrated 22-year-old apprentice rider dismounted and then amazed onlookers by striking the horse in its stomach.
The jockey and his horse carried on with the race and finished eighth out a field of ten.
They were beaten by more than 14 lengths.

Thoroughbred Racing South Australia responded immediately by banning Caboche for two weeks.
The authority hopes their severe penalty will act as a warning to other jockeys.

A spokesman said: “TRSA does not condone and will not tolerate such behaviour.
“It is hoped this penalty – which will remain on the rider’s record and will impact his earning ability – will send a strong signal to others.”

It was She’s Reneldasgirl third race. Last month she had finished last and second-last at Port Lincoln and Gawler respectively.
Caboche, who is based in Adelaide, recently rode his 100th winner.
His penalty runs from midnight on November 17 to midnight on December 1. There are eight race meetings programmed in South Australia during that time.

Caboche could reasonably be expected to miss at least 30 rides during his suspension. In SA, jockeys receive a £100 fee for each race ride.
Caboche had seven rides at the Port Lincoln meeting, winning the last race on Slide Of Hand.
Irish jockey Davy Russell recently received a four-day ban for punching a horse in the head.
