Joachim Low in Real Madrid sights if Zinedine Zidane finishes season without a trophy
JOACHIM LOW has been singled out as a potential target for Real Madrid if Zinedine Zidane fails to deliver a trophy for the Spanish giants this season.
Zidane’s position is suddenly under threat at the Bernabeu after their defeat to Barcelona blew the La Liga title race wide open.

Real are in the semi-finals of the Champions League, and are still in control of their own destiny in the race for the Spanish title despite their 3-2 El Casico defeat to Barca.
But that has still not stopped questions being asked among the Real hierarchy about whether Zidane is the right man to stay in charge next season.

The club sacked Carlo Ancelotti in 2015 for going a season without silverware, just a year after he led them to the Champions League.
And they would be prepared to be just as clinical in sacking Zidane if he comes up short this season, even though he is a legend in Madrid for his impact as player and manager.

Real have already started looking at potential replacements, and it is Germany boss Low who stands out according to Spanish paper AS.
They see the man who led his country to World Cup glory in 2014 as having the ideal stature and experience to take charge at the Bernabeu in the future – despite Low having only signed a new deal with Germany last autumn.

Low's current deal with the German FA now runs until 2020, so Real would have to convince the 57-year-old a return to club management would be worth considering.
It means the pressure is now on Zidane to deliver in the Champions League semi-final against Madrid rivals Atletico - who will be able to rest key players because they are not involved in the race for La Liga.
