“This is one of the best days of the year. It is like a public holiday. Everybody goes nuts.
“It is a day like no other. I start in TalkSport about 7:30am and will be on air from 10-1 and get up to speed. I’ll have a Deadline Day before Deadline Day! I’ll already be up to speed before I head to Sky.
“What makes it a special day is getting that piece of information that other people have not got and breaking it live on air.
“Being first is key, and making sure it is accurate. There will be plenty of deals this time.
“The Payet money is now in the system. West Ham have bought Robert Snodgrass, so there is £25million slushing about. A big one always sets off a rush of them.

“Some of the deals leave you open-mouthed. I never thought Danny Welbeck would go to Arsenal.
“When we went on air that night, all the producers were telling us not to go heavy on Welbeck and even Arsenal were telling us to cool it a bit but I had an inkling that it was going to happen.
“Agents drop me messages trying to get airtime for their clients and saying their players might being going here or there.

"I also speak to managers and also chairman. I speak to them a lot. They tell me what direction the deals are going.
"One of the funniest ones was with Peter Odemwingie when he turned up at Loftus Road.
"In Odemwingie's defence he made his way down and was there at QPR ready to get the deal over the line.
"The problem was he went too public with it. The deal was nowhere near happening and then it didn't happen and he was made to look silly. It was a pity because he's such a nice lad.

"This time, the likes of Palace are going to be really busy. I think Everton will look to do some deals. They are hurting that they missed out on Moussa Sissoko.
"Liverpool might have to do something due to their recent poor run. Will Manchester City do something? Chelsea will for sure.
"It is going to be an exciting one. And yes, I'll be wearing my yellow tie! Even Sir Alex Ferguson asked me about that.
"It's because the breaking news banner on the screen is yellow. People see a flash of yellow and think something is about to happen. And they will be right."
