Jan Vertonghen says 0-0 draw at Bayer Leverkusen shows injury-hit Tottenham have the best squad in the Prem with cover in all positions
JAN VERTONGHEN believes Tottenham have the best squad in the Premier League.
The defender helped Spurs to a hard-earned Champions League point at Bayer Leverkusen.

That is despite the North Londoners being without fellow centre-back Toby Alderweireld, as well as England duo Harry Kane and Kyle Walker for the 0-0 draw in Germany.
Vertonghen said: “It is a sign that we can miss anyone, almost.
“It shows the strength of the squad. I think it’s as good as any in the Premier League.
“Obviously other teams have exceptional talents, but we have them as well.”
Alderweireld — who joined his Belgium pal Vertonghen at Spurs last season — is set to be out another ten days after injuring a knee at West Brom on Saturday.

Eric Dier came in to partner Vertonghen for Tuesday’s 0-0 in Germany after switching to Spurs’ midfield last season.
Vertonghen, 29, said: “Since Toby arrived it’s maybe the second game I haven’t played with him as a centre-back.
“We’ve got such a good thing.
“I’ve played with him maybe eight years for the national team.
“It also worked with Dier. He is used to playing centre-back.

“I think we showed we can live without Toby and other players.
“It started with Harry and people then said it about Hugo Lloris.
“But Michel Vorm showed he could come in against Liverpool and Eric is showing it now.
“We can miss almost everyone, obviously not eight or nine players, the squad is so strong.”
Vertonghen also thinks the Tottenham squad, one of the top flight’s youngest, is fast growing up.
He said: “This is a game we might have lost a couple of years ago.
