JAMES RODRIGUEZ will join Manchester United in part exchange for David De Gea, according to reports in Spain.
The Real Madrid stylist is rated at around £50million, about £10m less than Spain keeper De Gea.
Spanish news outlet Donbalon even claim Real president Florentino Peres has already agreed to sell the Colombian to United.
Rodriguez, 25, has failed to reproduce the stunning form that gave him the Golden Boot at the 2014 World Cup.
His six goals and individual brilliance in Brazil persuaded Real to pay Monaco around £67m just weeks later.
But the ex-Porto star has since struggled to win a regular place in a side brimming with big-name talents like Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale.
Real, meanwhile, are thought to be keener than ever on De Gea, who nearly joined them on transfer deadline two years ago.
United chief Jose Mourinho will dig in for a massive fee or a spectacular swap deal.
France centre-back Raphael Varane and Spain frotnman Alvaro Morata are thought to have been his main targets for an exchange deal.
But Old Trafford lacks a midfielder of true attacking flair.
And Mourinho might think Rodriguez would flourish if he could step out of the shadow of Ronaldo.
