James Degale vs Truax: Odds, tips and prediction
WHEN JAMES DEGALE lost his IBF world title to Caleb Truax in December, the victorious American was a 20-1 outsider.
The Team GB golden boy was 200-1 ON to coast through the run-of-the-mill title defence in front of his home London crowd.

- James Degale to win in round eight – 22/1 with Sun Bets
So it was an incredible shock when the Londoner unravelled – not just in a split second KO that can happen to any fighter – but over 12 one-sided rounds.
Just four months on and DeGale is in last-chance saloon and has vowed to quit the sport, well ahead of schedule, if he cannot wrench his belt back at the first attempt.
But is four months really enough for the shoulder problem he has blamed the defeat on to heal?

Truax is going to be full of energy and spurred on by making his Las Vegas debut.
Traditionally, Truax would be the ideal march-forward opponent for Chunky to face, as the classy southpaw picks him off on the back foot.
But the shock loss has thrown all of that up in the air and suddenly all of DeGale’s credentials are being questioned.

If all the old skill and stamina return, then DeGale should prove that the first meeting was a freak occurrence.
But Truax is only going to have improved on his shock coronation and home advantage will make it even harder for DeGale to win on the judges’ scorecard.
Truax on points is the bet if you think DeGale is finished.
But a late Chunky stoppage is attractive if you think there’s more in the Englishman’s tank.
