IT would take the average Brit 87 YEARS to earn the equivalent of a Premier League footballer’s mega salary.
According to new research by Football Salary Guide and FreeBets, the mean income in the United Kingdom works out at £539 per week.

That equates to around £28,000 per annum, while Prem stars – on average – take home over £2.4million per year… over £46,000 per week
The numbers mean the average British worker would need to work for a whopping 87 years just to match a top flight star’s yearly income.
Looking at other professions, those working in the financial services sector, earning an average salary of £783 per week, would still have to work for 56 years to hit the £2.4m mark.
Meanwhile IT and communications workers must work around 71 years before matching a footballer’s annual wage.
Healthcare professionals such as doctors and nurses would have to work an average of 48 years, while education providers such as teachers hit an average of 87 years.
Even female football players would have to work 70 years to earn the same as their male counterparts.

A member at Free Bets said: “We all know footballers earn a staggering amount of money on a weekly basis.
"But when put into context and parallels drawn between highly-regarded working professions such as nurses, doctors and teachers, the gap is even more apparent.
"Striking it lucky once in a while would help Britons reach footballer fortunes sooner.”

Of course those figures only show the Premier League average wage of £46,000-a-week.
If you were to consider the wages of some stars, including Paul Pogba's reported £280,000 per week salary, the numbers become even further warped.
The Manchester United ace rakes in around £14.6m per year - over 520 times more than the average Brit.
In fact, Pogba's weekly wage is ten times higher than the average British ANNUAL wage...
