INTER MILAN are set for talks with Mauro Icardi over an extension to his current deal which would see his release clause “significantly increased”, according to reports in Italy.
The Argentine is considered one of the best strikers on the continent and proved his worth at the weekend with four goals in the 5-0 win over Sampdoria.

His stunning goal scoring form has alerted Real Madrid, who are keen to overhaul their strike force in the summer.
And, with his £96million release clause now seeming more than affordable, Gazzetta dello Sport report Inter are set for a meeting with the player to discuss better terms.
His current deal runs out in 2021, and the Nerazzurri want to extend it by two more years, while making him the best-paid player in the club’s history on £125,000-a-week.
Icardi had been in poor recent form, with just two goals in his past ten matches.

However, he came back with a bang in a big way this season with a first-half hat-trick against Sampdoria — before adding a fourth after the break.
The victory keeps lifted them to fourth in the battle for a Champions League place and will bring back a feel-good factor to the club.

Icardi is happy at the club and in the city and has never hid his desire to stay there long-term.
However, he is 25 now and has never played in the Champions League, meaning failure to qualify could see him leave in the summer.
