Indy 500 witnesses shocking crash as Scott Dixon goes airborne and lands on the barrier
INDY 500 witnessed a shocking crash which saw Scott Dixon flip in mid-air before heavily landing onto the barrier.
The driver incredibly walked away from the incident unharmed but his car was absolutely demolished .

The collision came from the moment when Jay Howard bumped into the wall and his wheeled locked – causing him to collide with Dixon.
The impact saw Dixon crash into the back of Howard and fly into the air and flip before the side of his car bounced off the barrier.
Flames came off the car as it flew off the wall – it landed upside down – rolled upright and following the crash it had lost three wheels and a significant amount of body work.

Fortunately both drivers involved were unharmed thanks to the strength of the cockpits in the car.
After the crash, Dixon said: “I am fine – just a little beaten up there. I am just bummed for the team.
“It was definitely a wild ride. We ower a big thanks to the safety standards we have now.
“It’s tough. I was hoping Jay would stay against the wall but I had picked the direction and I was unlucky.
“You just hold on. You have to believe in the safety we have now. ”
