Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar announces release date for biopic of his remarkable life

SACHIN TENDULKAR seems as excited as millions of Indians about the release of a biopic on his incredible life.

The cricket legend used social media today to reveal the May 17 release date of Sachin: A Billion Dreams.

And Tendulkar's iconic status will ensure rich pickings for the movie - at least in the Indian market -  three years after his autiobiography easily achieved record sales.

Keep up to date with ALL the cricket news

Tendulkar, 43,  tweeted: "The answer to the question that everyone's asking me is here. Mark your calendars and save the date. Sachin The Film releases 26.05.17."

The Little Master retired in November 2013 after a record 15,921 runs from 200 Tests - having made his debut 23 years earlier aged 16.

He stands alone in reaching 100 centuries and 30,00 runs from all forms of international cricket.

The first movie teaser to the Sachin biopic a year ago sparked a frenzy of interest.

And the marketing world reveres Tendulkar just as much as cricket fans do.

His autobiography Playing It My Way became the biggest-selling adult hardback book and topped records for Indian sports publishing.

So the biopic this spring is sure to set even more figures as amazingly awesome as his batting stats.
