ALEX BRUCE has discovered his Hull City contract will not be renewed… by a TWEET.
The toughest part of a professional footballer’s life is being let go by his club.

And as such, it tends to be an issue treated with the upmost care and respect by both sides.
But in Bruce’s case, he had a rather rude awakening this morning after seeing relegated Hull City’s latest Twitter post.
The Tigers released a statement alongside a picture of Bruce, saying: “Alex Bruce heads a list of players who will be leaving @HullCity once their contracts expire at the end of June.”

However, someone behind the scenes clearly forgot to tell defender Bruce, who wrote back: “Thanks for letting me know!! All the best [thumbs up emoji].”
But it doesn’t seem to be the first time a club has acted without informing a player, with ex-QPR ace Marc Bircham revealing: “Like when me and @danshittu found out we were put on transfer list watching@SkySportsNewsHQ in QPR canteen cause the club needed the money [crying with laughter emoji].”
But Bruce appeared to be lapping up the banter, with Scottish side Motherwell getting involved.
They wrote: "We're pleased to announce the signing of @AlexBruce84 on a 9-year-deal. Sorry, we also forgot to tell you Alex!!"
To which Bruce replied: "See you for Pre Season!!!"

It’s sure to be a bittersweet departure for Bruce, who joined the club in 2012 when father Steve was manager.
He went on to make 104 appearances in total for the Tigers but failed to make a single appearance in the first half of the 2016/17 season.
Bruce ended up moving to Championship side Wigan on a six-month loan in January but only managed two appearances from the bench.
