Huddersfield boss David Wagner writes off Arsenal clash as he gives his heroes 48 hours on the booze after sealing Premier League survival

HUDDERSFIELD manager David Wagner has already written off his team’s final game against Arsenal after giving his players 48 hours on the booze.

Last night’s 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge means the Terriers are definitely staying in the Premier League and has effectively relegated Swansea.

And delighted Wagner, 46, revealed: “The guys have decided they want to go back by coach so they can have a few beers so we have just cancelled our flight home.

“We will do whatever they say for the next 48 hours then play with total freedom in our final game and give Arsene Wenger all the focus he deserves.

“They gave me the bumps on the pitch and my trousers came down, so I hope it wasn’t live on TV because me body shape is now how it should be.

“The achievement for our football club is just incredible and we did it all on our own. We didn’t rely on anyone else to help us out.

“This an even bigger achievement than promotion last season. Last year we were predicted to be relegated and we got promoted and this season we were predicted to be relegated by miles.

“We work under conditions that are not even Championship circumstances but the Huddersfield DNA is to have passion, desire and ambition.”

Antonio Conte admitted that Chelsea need a last day miracle – and refused to say if he expects to still be in charge next season.

Blues boss Conte, 48, is praying that Liverpool lose at home to Brighton on Sunday for his team to stand any chance of snatching a top four finish.

He said: “At the end of the season you finish in the position you deserve. We have dropped too many points so if we stay fifth in the table it means we deserve to stay there.

“The situation wasn’t in our hands before this game and for sure the possibility of the top four is now less after this result.

“But I don’t have anything to say about my position. It is down to the club to judge the situation and then to take the best decision.

“It’s very difficult to explain the result tonight because we had 82 per cent possession, we created many chances and conceded on their only counter-attack.

“But the draw has nothing to do with the rotation of the team. We rotated against Burnley and won the game and everyone said it was good. It’s stupid if we think rotation was the problem.”
