But Wagner will now continue at Huddersfield after guiding them to the Premier League for the first time in their history.

Assistant Head Coach Christoph Buehler has also extended his stay until 2019 and the pair will now be aiming to keep the Terriers up in their new top-flight campaign.

Wagner has worked wonders since joining Huddersfield as a replacement for Chris Powell in November 2015 from Borussia Dortmund II.

Mooy’s fee could eventually hit the £10m mark and the Australian has penned a three-year deal with the option for a fourth.
