Horse racing tips: Carlisle, Chelmsford, Ludlow and Southwell – Templegate’s betting preview for Thursday, October 26

KAP JAZZ (nap) should have us up and dancing after Carlisle’s 4.25.

He won twice – including at today’s track – over 2m4f last season but has always looked likely to appreciate a step up in distance. Testing ground holds no fears and trainer Venetia Williams had a winner at this course last week.

Oscar Fortune ridden by Tony McCoy (left) goes on to win the Mr & Mrs Handley Ruby Wedding Novices' Hurdle during the Cumberland Chase Day at Carlisle Racecourse, Carlisle

SKEWIFF (3.35 Ludlow, nb) made a successful hurdles debut at Ffos Las in June. She was too keen when eventually falling two from home at Chepstow on her return. I’m expecting her to be better with that run behind her.

WHIN PARK (4.15 Southwell, treble) made a promising hurdles debut last season but his two subsequent starts were not as good. He’s the type to do better this term and I reckon he’ nicely weighted for his first handicap run.
