Agnew, 51, who is highly thought of at the Riverside, will be in charge for the visit of Manchester United on Sunday, as the north-east club look for inspiration from the Premier League champions who are on a roll under temporary boss Craig Shakespeare.

The Spaniard’s position at Boro had been under scrutiny for some time with club chairman Steve Gibson canvassing opinion as to whether Karanka was the man to lead them out of trouble.
Boro fans became frustrated with the style of play and the lack of attacking ambition back in the Premier League.
Karanka fell out with some of the players and became frustrated with what he thought were missed opportunities in the January transfer window.
In a statement Karanka said: "This club will always hold a special place for me. I'd like to thank Middlesbrough for a wonderful opportunity and the players, staff and all the people at the club who I have worked with."
