Goal-line technology will finally be introduced to clubs in the Sky Bet Championship from next season after clubs agreed for the introduction of the ‘Hawk-eye system’
GOAL-LINE technology is set to be introduced into the Championship from the 2017-18 season.
EFL clubs agreed in principle to its introduction at a meeting and are set to discuss it further at their AGM in June.

EFL chief exec Shaun Harvey said: “I welcome the decision of our clubs to introduce goal-line technology into the EFL.

“PGMOL officials do an incredible job and this decision is about providing our match officials with as much support as possible to ensure they are best placed to make the right calls in even the most difficult of situations.
“The technology is widely adopted elsewhere in football, including in two of our competitions and I therefore welcome it as an important addition to the Sky Bet Championship from next season.”
The Premier League had had similar technology since the 2013/14 campaignReuters

The news will come as a relief particularly to QPR boss Ian Holloway, who called for its introduction following his side conceding a controversial goal to Blackburn in the 90th minute earlier this month.
It’s a huge boost for England’s second division, as the Premier League has had similar technology in use ever since the 2013/14 season.
It will work exactly how it is used in the top flight, with refs being notified if the ball has crossed the line, easing the strain and pressure on match officials.
