GEORGE HIRST appears to be following in his legendary father’s footsteps after firing a brace as England Under-18s defeated Poland.
He notched both goals as the Young Lions secured a 2-0 win at Stevenage on Thursday.

The Sheffield Wednesday youngster, son of Owls great David, has found the net four times in just three matches at this age group.

Hirst, aged 17, has already played for Wednesday’s first-team and he showcased why the club have such high hopes for him as he opened the scoring.
After being on the backfoot for the opening half hour, the forward slid it at full-stretch to convert Andre Dozzell’s low cross.

Dozzell, whose father Jason is another former Premier League star with Tottenham, is another star attracting attention from top-flight clubs.
And the Ipswich Town youngster’s performance will have done nothing to put off Liverpool making a £2million move for the midfielder.

Displaying his clinical nature for the first, Hirst went on to show his calmness for the second as he kept a cool head to convert a penalty shortly after the restart.
He almost made it a dream night in the dying stages when he fired just inches wide of the post to miss out on the match ball.
Hirst Senior scored 104 goals in 294 league games for Wednesday in his 11-year spell at Hillsborough from 1986 and bagged once in three matches for England.
