Ring Daniel Hanson recently told SunSport she feared for her job, and cannot fathom why people have an issue.

The 27-year-old said: “At the end of the day it’s a girl’s right to do whatever job she wants.

“It doesn’t matter if she’s modelling, being a ring girl, or doing an office job at a computer — she shouldn’t be told she can’t do a job.

It’s an opinion echoed by Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn, who said that not only do ring girls help fans by telling them what round it is, they are part of the tradition of the sport.

He told GQ recently: “We want to keep the traditions of the sport going and in my opinion it has nothing to do with sexism or feminism.

“It is just a part of boxing and until we are told otherwise, we will keep them involved.”
