And having already won his biggest battle, Jacobs is convinced he has nothing to fear in the boxing ring.
Jacobs, 30, said: “I don’t know if Golovkin is over-hyped but he’s being promoted as this fearsome guy and I don’t believe that to be the case because I don’t fear him.
“This is my opportunity to prove everything that I am and everything that he’s not.
“On paper this looks like a fight that won’t go the distance because we’ve both won all but three of our fights by KO.

“But I have prepared for everything and will do whatever it takes to get the victory.”
Golovkin is the fighter all others try to avoid.
The 34-year-old Kazakhstani has knocked out 33 of his 36 opponents in an unbeaten career — including Britain’s Kell Brook in five brutal rounds at the O2 last September with three of his four world middleweight titles at stake.
Jacobs was diagnosed with the bone cancer osteosarcoma six years ago, not long after the only defeat of his 32-fight career.
A large malignant tumour on his spine left him paralysed from the waist down.
Yet Jacobs refused to throw in the towel and 17 months after his illness left him in a wheelchair, he returned to the ring — and won his comeback bout with a first-round knockout.

Jacobs has now recruited the help of Amir Khan’s trainer Virgil Hunter, who is currently working with Britain’s Nicola Adams.
Jacobs added: “We have a dream team. Everybody’s offering me their knowledge and experience and that has trickled down to allow me to be superior.
“This is going to be the two best middleweights on the planet coming together to show you who is No 1.”
