MIDDLESBROUGH have confirmed Garry Monk as the club’s new manager.
Monk has been favourite for the post since Sun Sport revealed chairman Steve Gibson wanted to speak to the Leeds United boss as he headed for the exit.

And they have now announced his arrival.
A brief statement on their website said: “Middlesbrough FC are delighted to confirm the appointment of Garry Monk as the club’s new manager.
“Garry will be officially unveiled at a media conference on Monday.”
Monk did enough at Leeds to impress Gibson that he has the touch to get Boro promoted at the first attempt.

He is bringing close ally James Beattie with him as part of his coaching team, but his Elland Road No2 Pep Clotet may stay at the Yorkshire side.
Gibson will give Monk some funds for new faces and a striker is a priority after their troubles scoring under Aitor Karanka last season.
Boro netted just 27 times as they dropped out of the top-flight.

They have already lost top scorer Alvaro Negredo after he returned to parent club Valencia following his loan spell.
Playmaker Gaston Ramirez is also set to depart as Benfica look to try and bring the star to Portugal.
Ben Gibson is another who appears to be on his way out of the club this summer.
The England defender was Boro's best player last season but has a host of clubs chasing his services.
And the expected £25million raised from his sale will provide Monk with plenty of cash to set about rebuilding the squad at the Riverside ahead of the new Championship campaign.
