KENNY JACKETT has been appointed as the new Portsmouth manager on a two-year deal to replace Paul Cook.
The 55-year-old has been unveiled as their new boss where he has spoken of his delight at taking charge of the 2008 FA Cup winners.

To the surprise of many, Cook left Fratton Park to join fellow League One side Wigan Athletic who have just been relegated from the Sky Bet Championship.

Chairman Iain McInnes acted swiftly to identify Jackett as the clubs first choice, bringing the former Millwall gaffer back into management after an ill-fated stay at Rotherham United.
He resigned as the Millers’ boss back in November after just five games in charge, in which he drew once and lost four.

Jackett said to the clubs website: “This is a fantastic opportunity for me and I’m looking forward to getting started. It’s an exciting challenge.
“This club has a passionate fan-base and they can be a 12th man for us. Hopefully we can build on the momentum of last season and continue to progress.
“I can promise that I’ll work as hard as I possibly can to make sure that we can bring success to Portsmouth.”

Prior to his stay at the New York Stadium, he spent three years at Wolverhampton Wanderers where he guided them to the League One championship in his first season in charge.
Before that he spent nearly seven years with the Lions where he helped them clinch promotion to England’s second-tier after they beat Swindon Town 1-0 in the 2009/10 play-off final.
He has taken the helm of a Portsmouth side who have just narrowly won the League Two title after finishing with a better goal difference ahead of Plymouth Argyle.
