Floyd Mayweather gives Gennady Golovkin ‘absolutely no chance’ of beating middleweight rival Canelo Alvarez

FLOYD MAYWEATHER JR reckons Gennady Golovkin has absolutely no chance of beating Canelo Alvarez.

GGG is unbeaten so far in his career and Canelo has just the one loss, that incidentally came at the hands of Floyd himself.

And Mayweather, 40, sided with Mexican bruiser Canelo when asked who would win out of the two middleweights who fight in September.

Mayweather – who is still negotiating a return to the ring against UFC star Conor McGregor – said: “Do I think Triple G can beat Canelo? Absolutely not.

“I think there’s a few guys that can beat Triple G, and Canelo is on the top of the list, I believe that he’ll beat him.”

Golovkin is currently the IBF, WBA, WBC, and IBO middleweight belts while he also holds the world record for highest knockout percentage in middleweight boxing history with 89.8% from 37 fights.

But Mayweather says the Kazakhstan fighter is just all about the power.

Undefeated Mayweather added: “I really believe Triple G has good punching power as a fighter, he’s got good punching power, but he’s flat-footed.

“He makes a lot of mistakes, but boxing is different now. I don’t think it’ll go the distance”

Golovkin and Alvarez are set to fight later this year on September 16, no venue has been announced as yet.
