Incredibly, the FA official Twitter account posted: “What’s in your pocket, Chris” and a video of Smalling saying “Harry Kane”.
The message has been retweeted more than 40,000 times and provoked a huge response.
Much of that was aimed at Tottenham and Kane, who has recently returned from an ankle injury.
It is only two months to the World Cup in Russia when Kane could captain his country.
