Ex-Motherwell boss Ian Baraclough joins Steve Robinson at League 1 side Oldham

FORMER Motherwell manager Ian Baraclough has been officially named as Oldham’s No2.

In a role reversal he has teamed up with his former Steelmen assistant Steve Robinson, who took the Latics job earlier this month.

Baraclough, 45, was sacked by the Fir Park side in September last year after the side were dumped out of the League Cup by Championship side Morton.

The former Sligo Rovers boss has been working with Oldham for the last few weeks and admitted he jumped at the chance to team up with Robinson again.

He said: “I’ve been here two or three weeks now and it’s been enjoyable but very busy which is just how you want it to be.

“It’s been great to get back on the pitch again, amongst players within a football club, and for a good club at that then it is exciting times for me.

“I know the manager well and we bang ideas together, we know how each other work and for me it has been a good combination so hopefully we can bring that into this job.”
