Everton transfer news: Lamine Kone offered stunning £50k-a-week deal by Sunderland toward off Ronald Koeman

SUNDERLAND boss David Moyes has offered Lamine Kone a stunning new £50,000-a-week contract in a bid to stop him going to Everton.

Moyes put the fresh terms to the giant centre half yesterday and wants him to commit after turning down a £14 million bid for him.

Kone would collect a pay rise of almost 50 per cent if he puts pen to paper on a fresh four-year contract and he is close to agreeing.

Moyes knows that his former club are offering Kone even more money, but he hopes his fast action will persuade him to stay.

Kone is unsettled by the Everton bid and the chance to cash in on his success since coming from French side Lorient in January.

The big defender even spent a day on Merseyside last week after Moyes initially old him there was no new contract offer.

However Moyes has now honoured the promise made by former boss Sam Allardyce to the player and come up with the numbers.
